Scotty knows!

It is with some sadness that we have bid farewell to The boys supporting the Springboks expedition photographer/videographer extraordinaire, Scott Martin. Stick has decided to leave the expedition at this point and head back to South Africa to celebrate the Boks World Cup win. His addition to the expedition has been invaluable. We are sure many have enjoyed Scotty’s mind-blowing photos, video clips and slide shows over the last few weeks.

Scotty’s emerging talent as a photographer and videographer has only been enhanced by his involvement with the expedition. Clambering over massive (more…)

Abysmo Trek (by Phil)

The boys with our legend guide, Rolo After our exciting 5 days on river we had to put on our boots and pack our back packs for a 7 day trek around a canyon, called the Abyss. This section of river gets very narrow and with 50 compulsory portages in the canyon. So we decided to walk around the canyon, but as you probably know by now, the Andes runs throught the whole of Peru… So you have two choises, up or down, level ground is not an option.

DSC_0176 I write this post with a massive smile on my face. Not that one has been lacking mind, but our last 5 days on river have been the most epic and fun of all our lives!

The Fastest Heat Gun Slinger in Peru

welch heat gun Well by the time you are all reading this we will be back in action on the Apurimac. If you click on videos you can see an overview of our stay in Cusco (If you haven’t already). Again its been busy times trying to repair the boat, sort out alternative solar charging options, organising new cooking utensils & kitchen & recovering a little physically.

The good news is that the boat is operational – Nath was a little anxious about how well we could salvage the floor with those 2 nasty tears. But a mini miracle helped our cause here. We knew we needed a heat gun to firstly remove the patches done on the river & then again to activate the glue for the new patches. The heat gun was essential to ensure a good strong bond second time around. (more…)

An Epic on the Apurimac

What it´s all aboutEish! What a week on the whitewater. The team has just experienced its most challenging week to date. A special thank you to all our family, friends & supporters – you may not know it but your comments & support through the website really help us push on & raise above the challenging times like we have just gone through – thanks so much, it means a lot to all of us.

The first day & half after departing Pilpinto went smoothly & we covered quite a bit of territory. It was then that the Apurimac
decided to flex some muscle as a reminder of what she is capable of!

What followed was day after day of epic river soap opera!
